Use certification database to source quality certified Chinese suppliers

In the practice of international trade, it is very common that the buyer will prefer to choosing suppliers that have passed certain certification, such as UL, CE, ETL, GS. It is safe to say that the quality of certified products are somewhat better than those that have been tested yet. Some of the certification like CE is mandatory, some aren¡¯t.
So how do we use certification resource like UL to source high quality and high end suppliers in China(Well, not necessarily in China)?
For example, a US client approached me to source UL certified high quality decorative lighting suppliers in China, or they just asked us to source for high quality decorative lighting suppliers in China(we assume those suppliers that with UL approval are generally better than others).
Here is how we can use UL online directory to find suppliers in China:
Step 1, go to UL online certification directory, the URL is http://database.ul.com/cgi-bin/XYV/template/LISEXT/1FRAME/index.html
You could type company name, city, country, postal code, UL category code, UL file number, keyword to search for ideal suppliers that you are looking for.
So like in the sample, we just type in ¡°decorative lighting¡± in keyword field, and choose country dropdown menu to China, then you will have the following list:
You can find 58 decorative lighting supplier in China.
The next step, we will need to dig out the contact information of those company. Let us choose ¡°Ever bright electric Co ltd¡±, Google the company name, you will find the company website on the top spot.
After research of all the 58 companies information, you will get a list of UL approved decorative lighting suppliers in China to contact with. We could repeat the process with other certification such as CE, UPC, as most certification official websites have online directories to search from.
